an attempt at diminishing verse poetry

i’ve been eyeing this style for a while, but had no idea what to do. diminishing verse poetry is basically where the last word of each line adds up to a larger word.

an example to make life easier-

the first word would be small
then followed by mall
and lastly, all.

the attempt below is pretty awful. it took me a while to find a word to work with in the first place, and constructing an entire poem around the word was a whole other issue in itself… xD!

this is my best shot-

the rivers are too dirty, the air is too still,
we promised Her! we promised Her faith till-
till the end of time. instead, we’ve made Her ill…

rust and ruin?

thanks for reading.

love always,

hi! just a nerdy girl here. lover of science, english and learning on the whole. spreading knowledge is one of my favorite things to do! nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less. ~marie curie
